Distribution Release: Fedora 13 Goddard

Fedora 13, a new version of one of the world's most widely-used Linux distributions for desktops and servers, has been released: "The Fedora Project, a Red Hat, Inc. sponsored and community-supported open source collaboration, today announced the availability of Fedora 13, the latest version of its free open source operating system distribution."

Network Control Modem GSM di Ubuntu

Modem GSM seperti Siera, Huawei, ZTE, dan lain sebagainya seringkali hanya menyertakan driver untuk Windows. Walaupun begitu, banyak sekali yang juga bisa digunakan di Linux dengan lancarrr.

Sayang seribu sayang, manakala digunakan di Linux tidak lagi bisa mengontrol network agar manteng di UMTS/HSDPA. Hal ini sangat mengganggu jika sedang di daerah yang sinyal UMTS/HSDPA-nya agak tipis dan seringkali secara otomatis berganti ke jaringan GPRS/EDGE. Koneksi akan nge-lag dan bisa jadi timeout. Sebellll...

Caranya:

• Kalau belum punya ALIEN, install dulu lewat terminal: sudo apt-get install alien
• Donlut file umtsmon versi RPM
• Mo langsung diinstall? pakai ini di terminal: sudo alien -i nama-file-donlutan.rpm
• Mo disimpen dulu? pakai ini di terminal: sudo alien -d nama-file-donlutan.rpm
• Hasilnya, sebuah file dengan nama: nama-file-donlutan.deb
• Dobelklik untuk menjalankan GDeb

Menggunakannya lewat applications > internet > umtsmon
